Tattoo Aftercare: Healing with HexDerm (Second Skin Bandage)
Proper tattoo aftercare is essential for protecting your artwork and ensuring the best healed result. This guide walks you through tattoo aftercare using HexDerm (second skin), exactly as recommended in-shop.
Applying HexDerm
Gently clean the tattoo using unscented antibacterial soap
Pat the area dry ( A clean, disposable paper towel is best)
Peel off the paper backing to expose the adhesive film
Apply the adhesive side to the skin using light pressure, starting from the center and working outward
Remove the grid layer by peeling at the arrows
Healing Process with HexDerm
• The first HexDerm bandage should stay in place for 24 hours
After 24 hours:
Remove the bandage
Clean the tattoo as instructed
Apply a new HexDerm bandage
Leave the second bandage on for 3–4 days, then remove
Removing HexDerm
Gently peel from the edges
Do not pull upward
Soap and water can help loosen the adhesive during removal
After Removing the Bandage
Once the final bandage is removed:
Wash the tattoo with unscented antibacterial soap
Apply a light layer of unscented lotion
We recommend Aveeno
Continue this routine for the remainder of the healing process
